Dog Friendly Rooms

Guests with 4 paws are most welcome around here. Up to two pups can stay with you (in one of our dog-friendly bedrooms) for an additional £25 per night. The best bit? We’ll give your pup a VIP welcome with a doggy hamper full of tasty tail-wagging treats, a doggy bed or blanket and bowl.

Staying over

Set in the heart of Histon, The Red Lion is perfectly placed for exploring Cambridge and the surrounding villages at an easy pace. Head into the city for historic colleges, riverside walks along the Cam, and the famous punting scenes, or stay closer to home and enjoy the slower rhythm of village life.

For a more local experience, Cambridge offers independent shops and bustling markets, galleries. In the warmer months, the riverside and green spaces come alive, perfect for long walks and laid-back afternoons.

Then, after a day out, come back to Histon for good food, proper pints, and the comfort of a true village pub, with cosy rooms just moments away when you’re ready to stay a little longer.

Check-in is from 3pm. Arriving early and want to head out? No problem, we’ll hold on to your bags until you’re back.

Check-out is by 11am.

Yes, we love furry four-legged friends just as much as humans. Just add your pet to your booking (up to two pups can stay with you for £25 per stay, and we’ll make sure they get a VIP welcome with a doggy hamper full of tasty tail-wagging treats, a doggy bed or blanket and bowl.

Getting Here

Spaces are provided on-site for both visitors and those staying with us in our rooms, making it easy to pop in for food and drinks or settle in for a longer stay. Availability can vary during busy periods, so we always recommend arriving a little early where possible.

Histon is well connected to Cambridge, with regular bus services running between the village and the city centre. From Cambridge, buses towards Histon stop close to the pub, making it a straightforward journey whether you’re coming for food, drinks, or an overnight stay.

If you’re travelling further afield, Cambridge train station is just a short bus or taxi ride away, with frequent connections to London and surrounding areas.
